ABOUT US

Albatros Publishing House was established in November 1994 by Andrzej Kuryłowicz – a passionate book–enthusiast.  At the end of 2010 Albatros was one of the first publishing houses in Poland to enter into e-book market.  Albatros publishes contemporary fiction and non-fiction, with the prevalence of literature translated from English, French and Spanish. Albatros’ portfolio is diversified, it encompasses classic canon books of the latter half of the 20th century, as well as carefully selected, compelling works of commercial fiction.

World’s most celebrated authors, renowned books and greatest bestsellers – this is our credo.

The list of authors is our greatest asset. To a large extent it is comprised of world’s greatest writers (most-read or acknowledged by critics), as well as authors considered contemporary classics (inter alia Mario Puzo, J.D. Salinger, Ken Kesey, Joseph Heller, Kurt Vonnegut). There are Nobel laureates – Kazuo Ishiguro, Doris Lessing, Toni Morrison, as well as writers honoured with other prizes such as: The Man Booker, inter alia Thomas Keneally, Yann Martel, Ian McEwan; The Pulitzer, inter alia Margaret Mitchell, Jhumpa Lahiri, Colson Whitehead; and The National Book Award, inter alia Jerzy Kosiński, Thomas Pynchon, Daphne du Maurier.

Most of our crime-and-action novels become European or American bestsellers. We are proud to publish works by Stephen King, John Grisham, Harlan Coben, Tess Gerritsen, Lee Child, Ken Follett and Robert Harris.

We do not avoid controversial books, but we steer clear of mediocre ones.
